3 Day Weekend!!!

Last weekend was a 3 day weekend and my best friend Ashley came in town! She was supposed to come for my 30th birthday, but there was a big ice storm here that weekend :(

Living 6 hours away from each other for the past 12 years hasn’t stopped us from staying close and visiting whenever we can :) We had a great weekend with great weather and, unfortunately, not so great football. Here are some pics from her visit!

Carsonisms

Carson has always been SO funny. He loves to mimic everything and sometimes his attempts at mimicking things is hilarious! Today he tried to clip my fingernails and he knows how to use the scale in our bathroom…

Here is a list of some of the funny “Carsonisms” that we enjoy daily!

  1. Vacuuming. Carson could vacuum all day if we’d let him! Before we bought him his own baby-dyson, he would roll his truck back and forth with Ryan as he’d vacuum!
  2. Cleaning. Guess Carson is somewhat of a neat freak, because he LOVES wiping things down with baby wipes. He’ll even detail his Cozy Coupe.
  3. Shoes. Along with being Carson’s favorite word, shoes are one of his favorite things. He’ll bring us shoes and try to put them on our feet, and when we’re shopping, if we go near the shoe aisle he’ll perk up and start saying “shoes, shoes, shoes!”
  4. Bossing Us Around. Lately Carson has become somewhat very bossy. He especially likes to tell us where to sit. The strangest part is that he likes us to sit on the very uncomfortable stone hearth of our fire place. He points for Ryan to sit on one side of him and me to sit on the other side of him. Then he’ll put his hands in his lap and just sit there looking back and forth at us!
  5. Crazy-Time. Between 6:30 and 7:30 (which is bedtime), Carson has what we lovingly refer to as “crazy-time.” During this time he likes to do various wild things: Run as fast as he can into the couch, Stand up on the couch and fall face first into the pillows (either on the couch or sometimes he’ll attempt to jump off the couch onto them), and jump across us. We have never had more bumps on our heads.  Bumping heads with us doesn’t seem to phase him though! Some nights it is very hard to get him to go to sleep!

There are so many more funny things he does! Screaming “HIIIIII!” at strangers could definitely make the list too. We are definitely lucky to have such a happy and fun little boy!!!

Friends with Kids

One of the most fun things about having a baby kid is having friends and relatives with babies/kids of similar ages!!! Carson has so many little friends :) In 2013 alone he had a second cousin, a first cousin, and two friends born. All girls! Right now most of his friends are girls, but he’ll have a new boy buddy in June when my friend Katie has her little baby Sammy. :) I’m sooo excited! Katie and I have been close friends for 9 years and I can’t wait to meet her little man ;)

Here is a picture of my friend Sarah’s adorable baby Chloe! Chloe is four months old now, so this picture must have been taken at least 2 months ago. Hard to tell if Carson likes babies or is jealous…we’ll go with likes babies! ;)

So Long Christmas Break :(

5:15 came way too early this morning! I was bummed to say goodbye to our 16 days of family time. Our Christmas break was so laid back and relaxing…I loved it! I didn’t feel rushed, obligated or stressed. It was pretty perfect. There was a certain bittersweetness to it though since it was the first time I haven’t seen my parents around Christmas. :(

Luckily Carson got right back into the swing of things at daycare today and I had a great day back at work. However, the best moment of my day was picking up Carson this afternoon and him running to me and Ryan shouting “HI!!!!” He’s pretty good at making us feel like the most important people in the world :)

Here are some fun pictures from the beginning of 2014…

image ICE at the Gaylord on New Years Day. Thanks for taking us Nana and Bear! Carson makes the gigantic ICE coats look good ;)

imageWe LOVED the Christmas lights in downtown Grapevine. The pretty trees were an added bonus. Carson had a great time running around!

imageMy friend Brittany and I took Carson and Bailey ( who will be 19 months this week!) to the Indoor Safari Park in Plano. It was so fun! Carson loved playing with his “girlfriend” and seeing all the trains. He ran around saying “Choo! Choo!” :)

imageThis baby dyson vacuum is seriously the best toy we’ve ever bought! Carson is obsessed with vacuuming… When he came home today, he went straight to the coat closet where we keep the vacuums :)

imageLounging with my little love in denial of the fact that break was about to end. We were watching “Tarzan.” :)

Thanks for keeping up with our little family!!!

18 months and talking, talking, talking!

Today we had Carson’s 18 month well-baby check up, because on Sunday he will be 18 months old!!! He did great at the doctor and there were no shots, just a little finger prick for an anemia test. His iron is good :)

Here are his current stats:

Weight = 22 lbs (21st percentile)

Height = 32 inches (37th percentile)

Head = 18 inches (12th percentile)

What he lacks in weight and head size, he makes up in vocabulary. According to the brochure our pediatrician gave us, he should be able to say 4 to 10 words, but Carson can say more than 30! He says these words VERY loudly.

Carson’s Vocabulary:

  • Oh Wow! (his favorite!)
  • Shoes (a close second favorite!)
  • Hi (he LOVES saying hi and waving to strangers and other babies)
  • Mama
  • Daddy (although lately he’s been calling Ryan “Nonny” - ha!)
  • Gosh
  • Two
  • No
  • Yes (sounds more like yesh)
  • Maybe (may may)
  • Bye Bye
  • Night Night
  • Hey
  • Santa
  • Molly (Ryan’s parents’ dog)
  • Dog
  • Shush
  • Choo Choo
  • Car
  • Ball
  • Apple
  • Toast
  • Cheese
  • Banana
  • Yum
  • Uh Oh
  • Eyes
  • Nose
  • Ear
  • Hair
  • Poo Poo
  • Toot
  • Yatzee (Ryan taught him that tonight…ya know, for when he starts playing Yatzee!)

There might be a few more, but that’s all my tired brain can think of! It’s fun to try to get him to say more words. He definitely likes trying! I have some good videos that i’ll have to post of him saying various things :)

Also, today is my mom’s birthday…so shout out to my mama!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! LOVE YOU!

Carson’s reaction Christmas morning!

Christmas 2013

We had a wonderful Christmas! Carson was actually pretty into the whole Christmas thing this year, which surprised us since most kids his age probably care more about wrapping paper than anything else. Carson loved listening to Christmas music, reading Christmas books, looking at (and un-decorating) the tree, eating Christmas sweets and opening presents. On Christmas morning, and the days that followed, he would look at his toys under the tree and say “oh wow!” as if he was surprised all over again. On Christmas Eve he wanted us to read “Twas the Night Before” Christmas multiple times!!! All month long he knew he had an advent book to open and got really excited about that moment each day. Unfortunately, we couldn’t take him to church this year as we knew he would not sit still, but we look forward to continuing that tradition as he gets older. I know Christmases will just get better and better as he gets older!

Christmas Morning at our house. Carson must have been a very good boy this year ;-)

We spent Christmas Eve with Ryan’s parents, sister, brother-in-law, and our niece Violet. Here is Carson after eating the delicious Christmas Eve dinner! I love his “don’t take a picture of me” expression and his messy little face :)

Christmas day we spent with Ryan’s mom’s side of the family at a pretty wedding venue in Grapevine. We had a wonderful time hanging out with everyone!!! Carson really loved playing with Ryan’s cousin’s kids. Carson found a mic and performed for everyone…

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
