"That's the way we all became the Baxter Bunch!"

This little boy makes my heart so happy! I could spend all day staring at his long eyelashes and playing with his tiny toes. Happy 11 weeks Carson! Mommy and Daddy still can’t believe you are ours and that you are here…we are so lucky to get to be your parents!!!

(and check out that strong neck and that very attentive big sister!!!)

Stella and Carson
Stella is really starting to not only pay attention to Carson, but is really wanting him to pay attention back! He’ll follow her with his eyes, but has yet to interact with her. You can tell from this picture that she is VERY ready for him to play with her!!!

Stella has taken on the role of big sister quite nicely. For as hyper of a dog as she is, she is really gentle around Carson and just wants to sniff and lick him. She doesn’t try to jump on the couch when he’s on our laps or interfere with anything when we’re taking care of him! I don’t think she likes it when he cries, because she almost looks as if she’s thinking “ok guys, what should we do to calm him down?” I’m proud of how mature this experience has made her- haha! :) We love you our “first born!”

Stella went to the groomer today and got an even shorter hair cut than last time…which I didn’t think was even possible! And they gave her a chihuahua bow!!! Yikes! Princess Stella now really looks like the spastic princess that she is. At least she’ll be low maintenance (well, as far as washing goes) once her little brother arrives, which should be sometime in the next two weeks- eek! We’ll be 38 weeks tomorrow!!! Trying to convince Stella that this will be the best thing that’s ever happened to her by bribing her with lots of new toys and a spa day. Hope it’s working!!!
Now that she’s entertained I’ve gotten to the point where I need to be entertained. The waiting game has begun. Everything is washed. The bags are packed. The house is clean. No sign that he’s coming early…so I keep trying to come up with more things that are needed! Speaking of which, I better go put his baby mittens in the dryer. Gotta cover those baby talons!

Spring Break “Babymoon” and Stella’s new ‘do!

Happy Spring Break! The Monday through Wednesday of Spring Break, Ryan and I drove down to San Antonio for a little “baby moon.” We stayed at a great hotel right on the river walk. It’s funny how when you are expecting you notice babies/strollers more than you usually would! We saw an unreal amount of babies everywhere we went, including dangerously close to falling into the river since there is no rail!!!

On Monday we spent the day walking the river and went to the top of the Tower of the Americas. I hadn’t been up there since I was 8 or 9! On Tuesday we braved the Spring Break crowds and went to Sea World! Despite the thousands of families who had the same idea, it was fun (for me!). Tuesday night we had dinner and spent time with Tori (one of my best friends from college), her husband Patrick and their adorable boys, Thomas and Robert. That was a highlight of our trip since we hadn’t seen them since our wedding! Wednesday morning we ate at LuLu’s cafe, a place known for its 3 pound cinnamon roll that was featured on the Travel Channel. Ryan talked me out of ordering one, but now I’m thinking of trying to make my own! It was a good chance to get away and relax together before our lives change forever!!!

Speaking of change…we boarded Stella while we were away and had her groomed. Guess our idea of a “summer trim” and the groomer’s idea of that were completely different, because now we have a naked dog! They must have taken off about 5 pounds of hair :( I’ll try to post a picture of her new ‘do soon!

On the 1 year anniversary of adopting Stella, she is bonding with her baby brother! This is one of the first times she has acted like she knows something is in my belly :) At 23 weeks I am starting to feel Carson move a lot more and Ryan has become an expert at quickly finding Carson’s heartbeat on our fetal doppler!
